about terrible’s hotel & casino

Terrible’s Hotel & Casino is located along Interstate 15, just 20 miles South of the world-famous “Welcome to Las Vegas sign” and the Las Vegas Strip. While twenty miles is not very far, Terrible’s Jean and the busy strip are worlds apart. Terrible’s Hotel & Casino is surrounded by the desert of the Ivanpah Valley just minutes from Seven Magic Mountains, Ugo Rondinone’s very popular creative expression of human presence in the desert. The historical Pioneer Saloon, where Clark Gable awaited the fate of his wife Carole Lombard after her plane crashed in the nearby mountains, is just short drive up the road in Goodsprings.

The hotel offers clean, spacious rooms with attractive rates. Amenities include: a heated outdoor pool and spa, a casino with hundreds of slots and live table games, free live entertainment, a Denny’s Diner, a snack bar, a steakhouse and the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. With our close proximity to The Strip, Seven Magic Mountains, and Lake Mead we are a great base camp for your Vegas adventures!

Why Terrible’s?

Many people ask why we call ourselves Terrible’s. It’s a great question from people not familiar with the premiere name in fuel stations and convenience stores in Las Vegas.

Back in the 1930’s, Ed Herbst opened his first gas station in Chicago. The other gas stations in the area worked together to keep prices high. Ed always made sure his prices were less than the competition, which provided value to his customers. His brilliant marketing – and heavy emphasis on customer service – allowed the business to grow. He was branded by the competition as “That Terrible Herbst!” None of the other gas station owners wanted him in town. Hearing the nick name “Terrible”, Ed embraced it and pushed on harder! Now, as they say, the rest is history! Here at Terrible’s Hotel and Casino, we carry the same principles that Ed founded his company on! We keep prices low, and service high! It’s a Terrible thing….to the competition!
